I am an enthusiast both of digital photography and singing. So much of my photography combines the two. Generally I photograph people or events.
Photography - I started with film SLRs then moved onto DSLRs in 1999 with an Olympus XL1400. Then for over 10 years I shot Nikon. A few years ago I moved to Fujifilm to allow me more easily to shoot jpeg rather than RAW in low light conditions.
Singing - I sang oratorio for decades as chorus Bass but began performing opera in 2002 and swopped to chorus Tenor! I am really a High Baritone (F to Bb). I both sing in the chorus and perform mainly baritone/high baritone solo roles: Spalanzani in Tales of Hoffman, Spoletta in Tosca, both Colline and Schaunard in La Boheme, Dr Blind in Die Fledermaus, Aeneas in Dido & Aeneas, Antonio the Gardener and Bartolo in Mozart - Marriage of Figaro, Count Horn in Verdi - Masked Ball, Abdullah in Nabucco, Amonasro in Aida and Giorgio Germont in La Traviatta, in Smetana - Bartered Bride, Alfio in Mascagni - Cavalleria Rusticana, Morales in Bizet - Carmen, Monostatos in Mozart - Magic Flute, Flavio in Bellini - Norma, Alidoro in Rossini - La Cenerentola. A flexible voice means I was recently able to perform as all of Leporello, Don Basilio and Don Alfonso in a semi-staged narrated "Mozart Mash Up".
My daughter Sophie also had the performing bug. Hence shots of her pantomime and other shows.
* Some of the time I am on stage in opera shots. My thanks to those who have assisted with those past photo shoots in particular Alan Shepherd and Margaret Young.
* If you want me to photograph your theatre or musical event (or equally want me to come and sing in it!) get in touch by email.
