Some photos illustrating ISO 3200 on the Nikon D80 plus more recent shots at 1600

Shots 1 - 4 are all the same photo taken in RAW and postprocessed using Nikon Capture NX. It was night and the church was dimly lit. 1/60th f2.8 on a tripod:

No 1 First attempt at PP - large file size
No 2 More recent PP - large file size
No 3 smaller file version of 1
No 4 smaller file version of 2

In No 2 (and 4) I switched off the in camera sharpening and Noise Reduction in Nikon Capture NX and used NX to process the image. In the couple of months between I had learned better how to use Capture NX!

The result is clearly a much cleaner image which will encorage me to make more use of ISO 3200.

Photos 4 & 5 are ISO 1600 with slight PP differences including the crop. ISO 3200 was not necessary as the hall for this concert was fairly bright (but the light was not even). Note these last two photos not taken by me but my camera with monopod. I am on stage. 1/100th f2.8. Not as sharp as I would like but ...

Other photos in this Gallery have no particular thread. I just had to put them somewhere.
